THE WHISKY SHOW • 2009 Bottlings

The Whisky Show is delighted to announce this exclusive malt bottled specially for this year’s event – a 1966 single malt from ‘Probably Speyside’s Finest Distillery’. Bottled by exhibitors Douglas Laing to help us celebrate The Whisky Show 2009, this 43 year-old Speysider hails from one of the best-loved distilleries in Scotland, under family ownership since 1865. The whisky is from a single Oloroso sherry cask and has been bottled at cask strength.

THE WHISKY SHOW • 2009 Bottlings

We’re delighted to announce that Whisky Show exhibitors Diageo will be bringing a selection of malts from their 2009 Special Releases to the Show for Visitors to try!
This year’s releases to be tasted at the Show include a delicious sherried Mannochmore, a delightful unpeated Caol Ila, and top-quality new expressions of Pittyvaich (now demolished) and sherried Speysider Benrinnes – all bottled at their full natural cask strength.

Pernod Ricard will have their Chivas Regal 25yo blend available for Visitors to taste at The Whisky Show 2009! This superlative blend is a recreation of the very first Chivas Regal, which was a 25yo blend exported to America in 1909. With exotic fruits, chocolate and a delicious creamy nuttiness, this extremely rare blend is one of the finest we’ve ever tasted.

Glenglassaugh have confirmed that they will have their recently-released 30yo available for Visitors to sample at The Whisky Show 2009! Emerging this year after a hibernation going back to 1986, the distillery has been revitalised under the guiding hand of Stuart Nickerson, and we are very proud to have them on board for the Show.

International Beverage Holdings will be showing the Balblair 1975 vintage at The Whisky Show 2009. A follow-up to the wildly successful 1979, this new release is a bottling of 100% sherry casks.

Co-hosts The Whisky Exchange will be showing the newest releases from their acclaimed Elements of Islay range of single Islay malts at The Whisky Show 2009! The latest bottlings in the series are Pe1, Lg1, Bn1 and Ar2, so make sure you visit the TWE stand to find out what all the fuss is about!

One of a pair of first fill single cask vintage Karuizawas bottled specially for The Whisky Exchange to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. This extraordinary malt is from 1967 and has been bottled at its full cask strength of 58.4% – amazingly high for a whisky bottled at forty-two years old. Karuizawa 1967 will be available for customers to taste exclusively at The Whisky Show 2009.

One of a pair of first fill single cask vintage Karuizawas bottled specially for The Whisky Exchange to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. At a full-strength 56.1%, and boasting a unique, specially-designed label featuring a Geisha, cask 2748 will set whisky aficionados’ hearts a-flutter. Available for tasting exclusively at The Whisky Show 2009, this very special Karuizawa is not to be missed.

Another in the sensational range of The Whisky Exchange’s 10th Anniversary bottlings available for Visitors to The Whisky Show to sample is this incredible Hakushu 1989, which was fully-matured in a single sherry cask. Bottled at full strength (62%) by Suntory especially for TWE, we believe this is only the second sherried single cask Hakushu ever to be released.

The Whisky Exchange, co-hosts of The Whisky Show, will be showing a number of their 10th Anniversary bottlings at the Show. This stunning 40yo cask-strength Longmorn, specially bottled for TWE by Gordon & Macphail from a single sherry cask, is a sister cask to the famous ‘Mash Tun’ bottling rated 95 points by Whiskyfun’s Serge Valentin, and will be available for tasting exclusively at The Whisky Show 2009.
Suntory will be showing their stunning Yamazaki 1984 vintage release at this year’s Show!

This extraordinary single malt was bottled to commemorate the company’s 110th anniversary as well as the 25th anniversary of the Yamazaki brand, and has a distinctive, cinnamon-like flavor, the result of its key malt, aged in Japanese mizunara casks. Yamazaki 1984 is expected to retail for around £500 when it reaches these shores and has received rave reviews from whisky experts around the world. We are absolutely delighted that our visitors will have the opportunity to taste this very special whisky.

We are delighted to announce that Glenrothes will be showing off The Glenrothes John Ramsay at the Whisky Show!
This Legacy bottling (RRP £700) was created by the distillery’s Malt Master, John Ramsay, to mark his retirement after over forty years in the industry. John has identified a parcel of second fill American oak sherry casks from 1973 to 1987 which have now been married together and very gradually reduced in strength but not chill-filtered.
Bottled at 46.7%, The Glenrothes John Ramsay is redolent of dark chocolates, blood oranges and vanilla. There is a great balance between oak and fruit and the whisky is very mature and extremely rich. We are thrilled that Glenrothes are exhibiting this fabulous whisky – make sure you visit the Glenrothes stand at the whisky show 2009 for a sample of malt history!
